What's for Dinner?

COST: $5.00 to $10.00 depending on your frame

Sorry...you still have to come up with a meal plan - that's another blog altogether!

here's what you'll need...
  • 11 x 14 Frame - you can use a larger frame if you prefer, but this size works easily with 12x12 scrapbook paper. It's also a nice size for sitting on your counter.
  • 12x12 Scrapbook Paper - this will be the main body of your background
  • 8.5x11 Paper - for yor heading. If you go with a printed paper, muted colors and patterns work best so that your title doesn't get lost in the print.
  • Lettering - You can use vinyl lettering, die-cut letters, or even your own handwriting if you've been blessed with the gift of penmanship. Since you're using regular copy-size paper for the header, you could also print something from your computer, where font options are plentiful- be sure to switch to the "landscape" layout.
here's what you'll do with it all...
  • Trim your 12x12 paper along one side to fit your frame - i usually use the glass as my guide. Note: be aware of where you trim if your paper can go in only one direction, or if it has a print that needs to be centered.
  • Measure your header and trim the landscape (long) side to about 2"-3" wide - remember, a small portion of your header will be hidden under the lip of your frame, so make sure your title is centered according to the portion that will be showing. If you're printing your title from the computer, allow yourself some wiggle room for adjustment, both above and below your title. You can always trim away the excess.
  • Glue along the bottom edge of your header and apply to the top end of your 12" paper, over lapping enough so that the completed sheet will fit inside your frame's window. It's usually a good idea to eyeball this a little before you actually glue.
  • Punch or cut, and then apply the side circles. You could switch these to any shape you like. You can also use some other kind of trim or ribbon - it just needs to be on the thinner side so it will lay flat against the glass.
  • Stick the letters of the week on last. Again, if you've gone the computer route, you can print your words, then punch, cut, and apply.
  • Place your completed sheet into the frame, and you're done!
Using a dry-erase marker or a grease pencil, write straight onto the glass.
